Eligibility
Scholarship applicants must be a spouse, child, or grandchild of a Local 139 veteran member in good standing or a direct descendant of a deceased veteran member who was in good standing. Graduate school students are ineligible.

Application Deadline
Applications are available starting in April, and a complete application with an essay must be received by June 1, 2026.
Award Date
All scholarship applicants will be notified by mail in July whether they have been selected. Scholarship checks will be distributed to the winners at the August district meetings. In addition, scholarship recipients and members of their families will have their photographs taken at those meetings for publication in the fall newsletter.
The Post 139 Scholarship Program
Four scholarships in 2025 were awarded in the amount for $2,100 each.

2025 District A scholarship recipient Elena Rettler

2025 District B Post 139 scholarship recipient Ayden Smith with Post 139 Commander Brian Swearingen, father, Post 139 Veteran/Member Brandon Smith and mother Lyda Smith.

2025 District C scholarship recipient Megan Wentlandt with Post 139 Commander Brian Swearingen and grandfather/Post 139 Member Russel “Butch” Wentlandt (member).

2025 District D scholarship recipient Isabelle See with Post 139 Commander Brian Swearingen, grandfather/Post 139 Member Dave Walsdorf, and parents Ron (member) and Paula Prochaska.
